RSS Feed – An Easy way to get updated to the latest news and events around the world without spending much time online

If you are seeking a way to reduce your time and effort for searching information online and at the same time you want to miss nothing happening around the world, this RSS Feed can help you fetching real-time information from your favorite websites as per your choice and preferences.

What is RSS Feed?

RSS (originally RDF Site Summary, often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship.

RSS feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favorite websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.

RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. The user subscribes to a feed by entering into the reader the feed's URI or by clicking a feed icon in a web browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds. RSS allows users to avoid manually inspecting all of the websites they are interested in, and instead subscribe to websites such that all new content is pushed onto their browsers when it becomes available.

RSS Feed URL

A web page address where this RSS Feed is stored is known as RSS Feed URL. If we open this URL in a browser we can see an XML formatted page only and hence for using RSS Feed we should have RSS Reading software or program. Using RSS Feed reading programs we can get updates from websites of our choice.

RSS feeds are a spam-free, quick and efficient way to read news and weblogs. To get the most out of newsfeeds, you need a powerful aggregator, though, that lets you organize, search, categorize and use news items just like emails.

Feed Notifier (Real-time System Tray Pop-up Notifications for RSS and Atom Feeds)

Feed Notifier is a Windows application that resides in the system tray and displays pop-up notifications on your desktop when new items arrive in your subscribed RSS or Atom feeds.

You can download Feed Notifier at free of cost from http://www.feednotifier.com/download/

After installation it will appear in system tray and you can right click and add new RSS Feed URLs to Feed Notifier. Updates will automatically get as pop up notifications. And we can click on the popup link to read more about the specified news. We can find RSS Feed URL from a website from its home page, for that you have to click on the icon of RSS Feed and copy the Feed URL (web page address) and paste it in Feed Notifier.
